Rose-Colored Glasses
© by Sue Kugler

For a long time your picture hung on my wall

But there came a time

To put things behind

So with a frown

I reached up and took it down

It had meant so much to me

To look up and see

Your face

On the wall of my place

So I put it in my drawer

Where I can take it out

And recall once more

A dream

When it seemed

Life was all Moonlight beams

Some say I wore “Rose-colored glasses”

To me, it just seems like ashes
