Hello
everybody! Rutger just entered the room!
Rutger, the keyboard is yours!
Question
How
was the trip down the red carpet?
Rutger
I
started at the wrong end. That is where
all people get into the theatre. Tends to
happen. Could not find agent to help me
out. Cellphones dead/not working. Red carpet
is so phoney anyway but I had a good time.
Had not been there for a while.
Question
Are
you settled in the new house? No more exploding
things?
Rutger
No
more exploding. Bought a new vehicle. Very
exploding. H2. Monster.
Question
H2
monster, what is that?
Rutger
H2
is the name of a model Hummer. Amazing what
drivers like and can do. I rented one a
few weeks ago to see if I would like it.
I know. Silly older boy stuff. But fell
in love with it if ever one can fall in
love with cars.
Question
Will
DD be joining us?
Rutger
No.
No DD. She is not able to technically nor
physically. But she seems to be holding
ground. I IM'ed her just this morning...I
saw DD's entry. She is a tigerdoll. Deb's
world keeps shrinking. Cause of time/energy.
Question
Will you
be going back to Stockholm?
Rutger
We
were able to achieve a pretty good and fun
interview on DVid which we will make available
though. That came from Stockholm. Did long
interview in icy winds on a rooftop there.
Good interview for a change and great trains
passing by and winds.
Question
And
after that any plans for NY maybe come spring
or summer?
Rutger
These
things need to be organized and like everything
else it needs to be organized well before
we feel like committing. NYC was great but
in order to keep it surprising one needs
not to repeat coming too often. Maybe next
year. I have no plans for next year BUT...
Question
Yessssss?
Rutger
Next
I will gueststar. In "ALIAS" which
is an edgy TV series running here. And they
may keep me coming back now and then to
stirrr things somewhat. The script is really
good. Intelligently bad but nice and good and
fun. Sound familiar?
Question
How are you and how is the weather
in the United States?
Rutger
The
weather is odd. Icy. 42 at night and snow
keeps flirting. The street which I reside
on now had a small layer of snow a few days
ago. Now there's some news for California.
It's nice.
Question
Last
night I saw for the first time "Lexx
Eating pattern"...you had fun there?
Makes not much sense without... Was it made
in Babelsberg?
Rutger
It
was made partly in Babelsberg. We also went
to Canada. Forgot the name of the town.
One of those where airplanes refuel all
the time. Was wacky. Glad people like that
too.
Question
I
saw 4 films with you yesterday: Fatherland,
Blind Side, Blind Fury and Lion of the Desert.
I liked them all but I liked most Lion of
the Desert. When was the film made?
Rutger
Lion
of the Desert...Mmmmm. You can check the
"Works and Plots" section...that's
what I'd have to do, too. It was a production
for the Italian TV. At the time they hardly
did things in English. Anyway. Glad you
liked it. I had a great time in Morocco
shooting. Raced through the desert each
day with 12 other drivers to see who'd make
it first. Silly. I won almost always. Ha!
Script had a few flaws. I guess it didn't
bother you. Well. Good.
Question
Glad
you had fun making it. I'm not too
keen but then again I've never seen the
full 8-hour version. Sorry!
Rutger
8
hrs. Yeah. It was long. Mmm. Scary. I know
it was shown on TV in Italy.
Question
I
think the long version is hard to come by
now, so don't really expect to see it. How
did it feel to see Confessions on the big
screen?
Rutger
I
felt I delivered a nice complex and intense
short performance of character. More than
was given or hoped for. Just adored working
with GC. A class gentleman and great director.
Sam Rockwell was nice too. Not really sure
about the whole movie but you'll have to
see.
Question
Beautiful
picture of you with the snoflakes Rutger.
Rutger
Let
it snow etc. Thank you. Webmaster's magnificent
efforts.
Question
Any
chance of another visit to UK, Rutger?
Rutger
Visit
UK. Well, chances yes but no plans yet.
Question
Sorry,
I am curious...a question about "The
Room"...the picture with the krankenwagen...bist
du sehr überzeugt davon das es nötig
war? Mir erscheint es ein wenig überdeutlich...sorry?
Rutger
Nax
you are just too damn smart....I agree....we
are talking about "The Room" and
a shot of the ambulance. Nax is saying she
did not need it. I felt the same. But my
partner felt we did need it. It's a matter
of subtlety. Can't make all people skate
on the same skate. Schuhfahren. Nein. Schlittschuh.
Ok.
Question
And
which of the films did you like most: Fatherland,
Blind Side or Blind Fury, Rutger?
Rutger
Sorrrry,
I really like all these three. Fatherland
for quality story and Richardson, Blind
Side for director and wackyness and Blind
Fury for the lighter genre and the story.
Question
Thanks
for answering my question about the Zappa
album favourites.
Rutger
I
was amazed but truly ccccaaa cccaaaa cccaarlton
hotel Ccarol. Zappa was just so way ahead.
Question
Are
you still learning to speak Swedish Rutger?
Rutger
I'm
hoping to get a bit longer there when I
go back the next time.
Question
I
loved Past Midnight. Sooooo sensual and
sweet in parts. The mushroom shared by kisses.
Rutger
Poets
here...
Question
Holding out for it on Hitcher dvd if that
happens?
Rutger
I
haven't heard from Hitcher DVD for a while.
Not a great sign.
Question
You
played a nazi in Fatherland and a person
thrown in a concentration camp by nazis
in Escape from Sobibor, interesting difference,
isn´t it?
Rutger
If
I can help it I will play on different sides
of the coin. I feel somewhat like that about
Ladyhawke and Flesh and Blood.
Question
Rutger,
any movies in the works?
Rutger
For
the near future I'll just see what will
come together. Originality is easy to
spot but hard to find. The bizz is starting
to pick up somewhat and I certainly will
keep you posted.
Question
I
have to ask, what was the model...what did
you use to draw on for The Hitcher...was
really!!! convincing!?
Rutger
Fantasy,
Imagination, Horror, Fear, Sense of Humour
and Script and Director. One of the best
script I ever read. By Eric Red.
Question
Rutger,
I know you were drawn to LadyHawke. Was
it more the time era or the storyline that
drew you?
Rutger
Romantic
love and story. Dick Donner, director had
offered the role of the bad to me a year
before. I told him it was boring. Goldie
Hawn's hubby was set and rehearsing already
in Italy but they did not get along that
well and that's when i got the call. Ten
days before the shoot was to begin in Rome.
Question
Which
was the hardest stunt you have ever done
in a film and which the most fun?
Rutger
The
big roofjump in Blade Runner was the most
exciting. The swordplay in Blind fury was
the most fun.
Question
Did
you like to play the bountyhunter Nick in
"Wanted Dead or Alive"?
Rutger
Loved
him, his girl and his Harley.
Question
Hi
Rutger! I see you know many languages, and
what about Russian? :) And in 2003 don't
you plan a trip to Russia?
Rutger
Thank
you...I am hoping to get to Russia....there
are a few discussions going on about a Moscow
Filmfest.
Question
Is
it possible for you to decide..what you
like mostly? I always wanted to be in a
"kostümfilm" einem mantel
und degen -film...for example like Geena
Davis as a pirate...ok, life was against
me.. now i am a paintress :) but it fascinated
me the most. Do you love to do these films
like Ladyhawke or Flesh&Blood?
Rutger
I
like costume. It add more than just history
but at the same time, each film has its
own...the details are such fun to find.
Question
Did
you see K19 Widowmaker? You can slap me
later ... I thought you would have been
wonderful in that film. HF seemed as dull
in it to me as he was in BR...
Rutger
Sorry
I'm prejudiced. Too close to Hostile Waters
and less believable.
Question
With
all the projects that you have been involved
in, what would you like to try next?
Rutger
Directing
is a role which I feel I should play more.
It's much more demanding. Probably less
fun. But have the need. So will try.
Question
Directing
features, tv, docus? Or all of the above?
Rutger
I
like the old Greek tragedies. I love romance
and poetry. There are so many stories not
told. Or let's say. Not told in a way I
like.
Question
Rutger,
did you ever in your life think you were
this adored by fans????
Rutger
No...and
hardly ever think about it but it is great.
Question
Did
you enjoy making The Tenth Kingdom?
Rutger
Tenth Kingdom was very rewarding. Stayed in UK for a few months and drove around there and in Facne and Luxembourg. Summertime. Guess what. The lady who played the princess is living here in the same street. Funny.
Question
Did
you ever get any feed-back from Ingmar Bergman?
Rutger
Nope,
that agent is gone to hell and I sent him... I'm
getting christmasnagging in the christmasstomach...
we've been on for an hour, what would you
say. Cheers and let's do this more often.
